The Strategic Imperative

Overcoming Education Poverty in Central Somalia

In Galmudug State, decades of civil strife and escalating climate disasters have left thousands of children out of school. While urban private schools charge fees ranging from $10 to $25 per month, this modest sum is completely out of reach for internally displaced (IDP) families, low-income pastoralists, and widows.

TDF’s model eliminates this economic barrier at the root. We do not offer small fee subsidies; we construct and operate fully managed institutional schools where attendance, textbooks, uniforms, and learning materials are guaranteed 100% free of charge.

National Curriculum Alignment

Our schools fully follow the Federal Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education (MOECHE) syllabus, ensuring our students sit for official national examinations and receive recognized certifications.

How We Ensure Lasting Educational Quality

1
Reliable Monthly Teacher Stipends
By paying all 15+ teachers predictable, fair monthly stipends, we achieve 98% teacher retention and zero mid-term classroom abandonment.
2
Gender-Separated WASH Facilities
Equipping every campus with private, lockable, clean latrines and handwashing points to prevent adolescent female dropout.
3
Solar Lighting & Clean Energy
100% off-grid solar arrays powering classroom ventilation, evening literacy sessions, and administrative computing.
4
TDF-TIMS Digital Attendance
Student daily attendance, textbook inventories, and examination scorecards are logged into our internal digital database.
Institutional Flagship

Tayo Primary School, Dhuusamareeb

Established in 2021 on community-donated land in the regional capital, Tayo Primary School serves as the operational model for our education expansion across Galmudug.

With over 200 learners actively enrolled, the school features fully equipped classrooms, a dedicated library nook, rooftop rainwater catchment, and an active Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) that meets monthly to review student welfare.

The Scholarship Fund (450+ Awarded)

Primary education is only the first step. To ensure vulnerable learners do not hit a financial dead-end upon completing Grade 8, TDF’s Scholarship Fund has supported over 450 promising young men and women into secondary schools and tertiary universities across Somalia.

  • Full tuition coverage at partner secondary institutes in Galmudug.
  • University stipends prioritizing education, nursing, and engineering.
  • Mentorship and post-graduate civic service integration.
